ES Sample Drum reset behavior

When running a cv in to trigger the slice reset is that trigger supposed to make the first slice of the loop play? The rest is set up to play forward through the slices on trigger inputs, but if I mute that trigger and only have the reset trigger running it plays the first slice every reset and that just doesn't quite seem correct to me, like resetting to the start shouldn't be the thing that causes a slice to play, just the actual trigger input?
