Question about the Yamaha MU-80

Recently have been using my MU-80 and have been getting a low battery error. I've been looking around and had a friend show me the inside of his to see how much of a hassle it would be to replace. However one concern I have is will I lose my instruments if the battery is removed during the repair? I've been looking online, and can't seem to pinpoint anything to confirm that.
