Does anyone else notice funny parallels between Eurorack and Magic the Gathering?

Aside from people spending lots of money on acquiring rare pieces…

  • They both involve oddly named units like “Beast’s Chalkboard” or “Triple Sloth” and have interesting artwork which may have nothing to do with actual use or specs.

  • Adept players however, know the stats of every unit and how they work by name, whereas a beginner has to scramble for the guide to see what each one does.

  • There are combinations if cards/modules that are greater than the sum of their parts. I can fill my deck/case with these units to ensure their use during play.

  • There are different kinds of mana- CV, Gates, Triggers which are needed to be ‘tapped’ by different modules to perform different abilities, just as Creatures need different kinds of Land cards to come into play.

The obvious difference is that Eurorack musicians aren’t taking turns against another player to destroy their modules but that might be an interesting game!
