So here's my dilemma, and you can tell if I'm I'm wrong or off base.
I've got 2 drum machines that I like and have a good workflow with. I've got a decent keyboard synth and Digitone to fill out the bass and pads, etc. but I feel like I'm missing something to add in weird off beat type sounds that you can't really get from a synth or drum machine. So I was thinking a sampler, but at this point I don't even know what I would sample. I had an mpc2000xl back in the day and it sounded great but the sample management was a headache using a floppy or scsi drive. And I got rid of my record collection years ago that I used for sampling, but I wouldn't even want to go that route at this point. Too many dusty, scratched up records that take up tons of space.
So do I get a Digitakt and buy some loops/samples to get started with for reshaping and tweaking? Is there something else I should be looking at? I've got a Machinedrum and the Digitone so I know the Elektron sequencer in and out and really do enjoy it. I've also got a Korg EMX-1 which I really love and use everyday so I was thinking about the ESX-1 sampler, but everything I've read online says the sample management is a huge headache. Thanks for your feedback!
BTW: I mostly make techno. Kind of funky-ish techno.
