I have a few power supplies for my fx pedals that have isolated outputs to prevent ground loops, and they work great. I’m to the point with USB powered synth gadgets that ground loops are a constant nuisance that need to be fixed, and I’m looking for a similar power solution.
There are individual usb ground isolators, but it doesn’t look like anyone makes a usb hub with the output isolators built in. I’m sure that would push the price into the hundreds, like good pedal power supplies, but clean, hassle-free audio is worth it.
Maybe I haven’t searched hard enough… does anyone know of a multiport, powered-usb hub with ground-isolated outputs? Elektron released a special hub optimized for Overbridge use, so I’m hopeful that other audio-specialized usb hubs exist, or will soon. Maybe we’ll need to wait for the USB-c transition to fully occur before we see such a device….
