Hi everyone. I have a Beatstep Pro that I've successfully connected to my Nord Drum 3P. I just got the new Roland Aira J-6 and want to connect it to the BSP, but nothing I've tried works. I've checked that the channels on both the BSP and J-6 match, and I'm using the gray BSP adapter that sends MIDI out. I've even unplugged the MIDI cable from the Nord directly into the J-6 (with an adapter)--keeping all my setup the same--and am still getting nothing.

Any ideas what's going on or how I can fix it? I'm pretty new to synths so I don't fully understand all the settings and parameters (YouTube has been a huge help!). The only thing I can think of is that the BSP is a monophonic sequencer but the J-6 is a polyphonic synth. I knew that when I bought it but I assumed I'd still be able to use it monophonically. I'm trying to do this DAW-less.

Am I totally missing something here? Thanks for your help!

submitted by /u/calle04x
[link] [comments]
