I know we don't need fancy preamps for our fancy synthesizers. For sure, preamps are pretty far down on the list of things producers need to worry about. I also know we don't need fancy synths to make music either. Doesn't stop me from being fascinated with them and I enjoy that part of the production process as much as creating patches.
Anyway, I made a video comparing synth tracks run through different preamps and had some sound files. If anyone on this sub is interested, you can download the tracks here, pull them up on your monitors or headphones and judge for yourself:

Preamps used - Audient ASP800, AEA RPQ500, Avedis MD7, Electrodyne 501, Empress ECM 519 (not a preamp but enough gain for synths so why not)
Honestly, I can't hear a difference in the YT vid on my laptop, which may be all we need to know! I do hear a difference when I'm actually tracking, though.
If you're interested in the vid, here it is: https://youtu.be/RS8IcbW5y1Y
