i’m pretty dang stumped, hoping someone here can help. in my home studio i have 2 Casio CZ-1’s. one is mine, one is a pal’s. both exhibit the same weird(?) behavior i can’t suss out.
my understanding is that the CZ-1/3000/5000 have 16 note polyphony in single ‘osc’ mode. basically, you should be able to hold down 16 keys at once as long as the patch isn’t using both line 1 + 2 together right? well, both of the cz1’s in my studio only have 8 note poly in single dco mode. play more notes than 8? nothin’ happens, not even note stealing.
a person might think it’s got the equiv of dead voices then, BUT when you use both lines/oscillators together, it STILL has 8 note polyphony- which to my understanding is normal.. and would suggest that all of the DCO’s are functional.
i always thought the cz in the studio was dysfunctional but now there’s 2 of em in here both exhibiting the same behavior, so i’m wondering if I’M the problem. like what are the odds 2 synths would have the same screwy issue.. can someone help/explain??
the manual literally states the synth should have 16 note polyphony!
