Could an OP-Z ever be rehoused?

I have an opportunity to trade something for a Teenage Engineering OP-Z but my research has turned up a lot of reviews stating that the plastic enclosure is prone to to warping and that the keys break down over time. Is it possible and/or worth it to rehouse it in something more sturdy?

Thanks!
