Thoughts on the Dirtywave M8

Thoughts on the Dirtywave M8:

- It's a slightly awkward size, in that I keep wanting to rest it on my pinky while using it two handed but it's too heavy for that

- The UI definitely takes some adjusting to - there are choices that were made with it that let you do much more generative stuff with it, such as the way pattern chaining is done to make songs, but as a result there are some aspects of it that are non-intuitive

- Some of the functions, like the way Chance pattern fx is handled, are just brilliant. Oddly it feels like this is actually a more powerful sequencer than even Renoise, or at least on par (but different)

- I didn't need to consult the manual for everything, but reading it definitely helped for understanding things like copy+paste etc.

- It sounds really clean when you export stems

- It's amazing that I can have 8 tracks of synths / samples / MIDI in this portable of a form factor, and that I can use a 256 GB MicroSD card to do that. Really cool, feels like the future.

Overall I definitely recommend picking one of them up if you want something to jam on the couch / train / bus / planes / outdoors / etc with. Helps if you have existing tracker experience.
