What do you suppose modular will be like in 50 to 100 years?

Modular has a kind of timeless quality to it. In some ways I expect the experience of patching a modular system in 2072 to be roughly the same as in 2022 or 1965, but obviously some aspects of modular have changed a lot in the last 50 years or so, and I expect more change in the future.

So, what do you think will be the same, and what will be different? This could be musical styles or composition techniques, physical formats, electrical specifications, various kinds of new signalling standards, new components, new manufacturing techniques, new business models, new kinds of controllers, and so on.

Or if you would prefer instead of a prediction, what do you hope will some day be a thing?
