0hp modular to line level

I know this question has been asked before but in my search I can't find the solution I'm looking for. My have a eurorack mixer/vca outputs 0-10v level and I want to use guitar pedals for some of the outs. I've been using a passive attenuator to attenuate the signal but I wonder if I can diy some cable with a set resistor in between that attenuates the signal? If so how can I know the right resistor to get the correct attenuation for my use case.
