Force a Roland JDXI to sync to tempo, but ignore start/stop... can it be done?

Hello all - I'm completely new to reddit, so HI!

I'm having a bit of trouble with my JDXI - I need it to be a slave to the the tempo set by my looper, but for several reasons, I don't want the sequencer to start when I play a track on the looper.

I can't seem to find any info on whether this is possible, so I thought I'd put it out there and see if anybody has done this?

Many thanks folks - hopefully the Hive Mind can shed some light...
