Rate my drum machine rack idea

Apologies this post is a little long and perhaps confusing (I have trouble organizing my thoughts for posts like these). I know theres tons of factors to consider when people are looking for advice on creating music/ designing racks, but Im looking for advice on a few specific angles. Those angles are workflow, and sonic capabilities. I know this path is more expensive than any traditional drum machine but I'm designing this because I think its the ideal set up for me. Im looking for a gut check from the community on whether this seems like it will work out based on everyones potential experience with similar builds and modules used.

Background:

I've been messing around with eurorack for a few years and I'm finally at place where I can build a small studio and wanted to start with a drum set up. Im going to be using ableton for recording and clocking purposes, through the expert sleepers ES-9. My style of music production is definitely minimal but kind of energetic if that makes sense. I think this song is pretty in line with what Im going for soundcloud joseph ray.

The way that music production works best for me is essentially doing some light programming and then making adjustments while recording live. Arranging each track is tough for me so I much rather try to record everything in a "live" manner and then make minor edits and fill in additional instruments once most of the framework is there.

Again, I know there are much cleaner/cheaper solutions and perhaps two DFAM's would accomplish the same goal (still open to that if you guys think I should give it a shot). My issue with other drum machines is they feel harder to tweak multiple parameters at the same time (seq, velocity, tone). The other ideas I was thinking about were based around the WMD Metron with other eurorack drums or a midi -> CV to a Vermona DRM. I think I would be happy with that set up but I'm worried that the Metron is not the most playable live, especially when you add the voltera's and different scenes. I could be misreading this as well though. The Metron seems to get tons of praise and looks very powerful.

I will say the new Erica Synths Perkons does look essentially perfect but theres not too many demos out.

How I imagine this will work

  • The quad clock distributor will clock the 4 bin seqs which will correspond to bass, snare, closed hi hat, open high hat.
  • The Instruo Ts-L + z4000+ mmf will be the bass drum (plenty of options with the envelope and waveshaping built in)
  • The quantum rainbow will provide a few different options for hi hats/snares that will be filtered through the vibrazum.
    • Im thinking hi hats will be shaped through the hi pass and the snare through the band pass
  • All the audio will be routed through the percall and sequenced by the bin seqs.
  • The batumi will provide more cv variation on top of the gate sequencing
  • Im thinking maybe some random source or logic modules could be fun down the road as well
  • Not really concerned with only having 8 steps since I tend to have the most fun with more limited patterns

I got inspired by this video if it helps paint a clearer picture of what Im going for https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1TBig-8JB6M&t=669s&ab_channel=voltlife

Thanks in advance for any comments or suggestions. I cant tell if I'm going overboard with thinking this through, but I'm hoping this could be a fun flexible drum machine that changes only slightly over time.
