Vocal type synth

Hi guys, there’s a lead synth used in passenger seat ’ by Homeshake, at 1:34. Just trying to identify what synth/manipulated sound it is - I’ve had a couple ideas, from maybe formant shifted auto tuned vocals or some sort of mono synth. Judging by the second one that plays at 2:57, I’m leaning towards a synth rather than vocals. Was just wondering if any of you with good ears could give it a crack?
