The Korg Volca FM can create some nice dreamscapes

I created this a while back:

https://thetiredhorizon.bandcamp.com/track/the-dreamer

Its pretty free-form. Some of the pads sound harmonica-like but it appears to work. I like the way chords can mutate and morph in FM synthesis. You can tell a story in those sounds.

Also its good for stereo as you can let notes hang left and right. And get some nice atmospherics going. I've used a lot of kit but the Volca FM is probably my favourite little beastie.
