Question about synth vs DAW capabilities

Hello everyone. Recently I have got my hands on Stylophone Gen x-1 and I really wish to get into this completelely unknown world of creating music. However, I am a total newbie and I could not find this basic information:

What is the main difference between working on a Digital Audio Workstation (such as Ableton Live or FL Studio) and a hardware synthesizer/sequencer/machine?

Is there anything that DAW cannot do, but hardware can and vice versa? Are there any sounds or options which are unique only to hardware analogue synths? Or is everything possible on DAW, but it just feels better to touch the real knobes?

Thank you for any input and please forgive me if that information is common knowledge.
